Aquatic Center in Corvallis, Oregon, Closes Due to Roof Corrosion

Following a closer inspection of the roof at Osborn Aquatic Center, the City of Corvallis, Oregon, USA, made the decision to close the entire facility while contractors gather additional information about needed repairs.

The indoor pool area was initially closed in late September out of an abundance of caution, following a preliminary inspection that revealed corrosion in the roof. Subsequently, a follow-up examination by structural contractors showed that additional repairs will be needed.

“During routine maintenance, corrosion was discovered in the natatorium, causing concerns for the integrity of the roofing structure,” the city says in a statement.

As a result, the facility is now closed to the public as Corvallis works to understand the scope of the issue, according to city officials.

All scheduled events at the facility have been canceled, and staff within the Corvallis parks and recreation department are available to assist customers with questions or refunds.

“We apologize for the inconvenience and look forward to resuming operations at the pool as soon as possible,” the city says in a statement.
