Induron Protective Coatings (Birmingham, Alabama, USA) recently announced the promotion of Chase Murphy to technical director. This promotion follows the retirement of a long-time industry leader, Jeff Lackey.

Murphy, who has been an integral part of the Induron research and development team for the past year, assumes his new role effective immediately.

“I am honored to take on this new challenge and lead Induron’s technical team,” Murphy says. “I look forward to building on the strong foundation that Lackey has laid and continuing to innovate and deliver the high-quality protective coatings that our customers expect from Induron.”

Murphy joined Induron as a lead chemist. In that role, he quickly established himself as a key contributor to the company’s innovation and product development efforts.

His expertise in protective coatings, combined with his leadership abilities, has played a crucial role in the advancement of Induron’s product line, according to the company. This has helped ensure a continued marketplace commitment to delivering high-performance solutions.

“Chase’s promotion to technical director is a testament to his hard work, dedication, and the significant impact he has made during his time with us,” says Davies Hood, president of Induron. “We are confident that under his technical leadership, Induron will continue to push the boundaries of innovation and maintain our reputation as an industry leader.”

Murphy succeeds Lackey, who has worked with Induron for the past four years. Lackey’s retirement marks the end of an era in which he was a driving force behind many of the group’s most successful projects and innovations, according to company leaders.

"Jeff Lackey’s contributions to Induron and the industry as a whole are immeasurable,” Hood says. “His leadership, vision, and expertise have left an indelible mark on our company, and we are grateful for his years of service.  wish Jeff all the best in his well-deserved retirement!"

In his new role, Murphy will manage the company’s technical operations. This includes both the research and development (R&D) team and all chemical aspects of Induron products. He will also oversee the approval of any new raw material to be utilized in company processes, all while developing and maintaining relationships with distributors and suppliers. Lastly, Murphy is responsible for all environmental and regulatory testing and reporting.

“Equipped with chemistry-based acumen and a hands-on approach to solving problems as well as his positive contribution to the overall culture of the R&D team, Chase is a tremendous addition to our technical department,” Hood says.

“I am confident that he will make an excellent technical director because of the leadership he has already displayed… his attention-to-detail, his focus on his teammates' best and highest use, and his customer-focused attitude. We have a lot of good stuff in-store here at Induron Coatings, and Chase Murphy and his team in our laboratory are a large part of the reason why.”
