The Association for Materials Protection and Performance (AMPP) and the National Insulation Association (NIA) have formalized a partnership by signing a joint standards development agreement.
Alan Thomas, CEO of AMPP, and Michele Jones, executive vice president and CEO of NIA, signed the agreement at the 2024 AMPP Annual Conference + Expo. With the pact, the organizations areaiming to establish a unified mechanical insulation standards program.
"On behalf of the AMPP community and its leaders, I am thrilled to express our gratitude as we initiate this collaborative journey with the National Insulation Association," says Kristin Leonard, chair of the AMPP Global Center. "This partnership marks a pivotal advancement in enhancing the standards and efficiency of the insulation industry.”
The agreement is designed to facilitate joint standards development in areas related to mechanical insulation in the commercial and industrial markets. It encompasses thermal, acoustical, and personnel safety requirements in mechanical piping and equipment in hot and cold applications; heating, venting, and air conditioning (HVAC) applications; refrigeration and other low-temperature piping and equipment applications; and metal building insulation.
