For asset owners of electric submersible pumps (ESP) failing from scale and corrosion, global technology company SLB (Houston, Texas, USA) is now offering a digital solution for the monitoring, analysis, and autonomous chemical injection of inhibitors.
By leveraging digital capabilities, previously manual chemical treatment processes requiring frequent field visits are being transformed into autonomous chemical injection systems, the company explains. Existing equipment is connected for real-time data acquisition to inform inline use of physics-based models, which can include a virtual flowmeter, edge analytics, and cloud computing.
This continuous optimization of injection can extend both ESP uptime and the life of production equipment. The number of field visits is significantly reduced, along with their carbon emissions.
Michael Van Spankeren, digital solutions manager for SLB’s production chemistry business, recently joined the Materials Performance (MP) Interview Series to discuss this award-winning technology, “Production Chemicals Optimization on DELFI.” The system was honored as a winner of MP’s 2023 Corrosion Innovation of the Year Awards.
Topics discussed on the newly released podcast include the origins and future of the innovation; feedback from users and clients on its performance to date in field situations; future demands and market trends in corrosion control software; and more. Tune in!
