PPG (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA), a leader manufacturer of paints, coatings, and specialty materials, has appointed Marizeth Carvalho as general manager for its Latin America South region and as global director for powder coatings within the group’s industrial coatings business.
In this dual role, Carvalho will be responsible for the company’s growth strategy in Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Paraguay, and Uruguay, as well as the global powder coatings business.
Carvalho assumed the position on Feb. 1 and will be based in Sumaré, Brazil, which is PPG’s regional headquarters and the location of its largest manufacturing facility in the region. She assumes regional leadership responsibilities from Marcio Grossmann, who was recently named as general manager for the company’s Americas packaging coatings business.
“PPG has maintained growth in this region over the years, even in the face of challenging conditions,” Carvalho says. “As a manufacturer of paints, coatings, and specialty materials for the most diverse markets, including transportation, civil construction, industrial, agricultural implements, and packaging, we expect to continue to grow the value we provide to customers in the region.”
Carvalho has more than 35 years of experience in the coatings industry. She joined PPG in 2016 as senior manager for industrial coatings, and she has held positions including director of industrial coatings and director of protective and marine coatings in the Latin America South region. Her most recent position was general manager for the Americas industrial coatings business, which was based in the United States.
Before joining PPG, she held commercial and sales roles in large multinational companies in the sector.
