Dron & Dickson (Aberdeen, United Kingdom), specialists in integrated supply, installation, and maintenance of harsh and hazardous area electrical equipment, has acquired Cable Solutions Worldwide Ltd. (Inverurie, United Kingdom) in what is described as a significant seven-figure deal.

The acquisition is designed to enable Dron & Dickson to offer an enhanced range of products and services under one group, grow in existing markets, and accelerate emergent markets—such as renewables—to deliver harsh and hazardous area electrical engineered solutions.

A market-leading specialist in cabling supplies, Cable Solutions Worldwide is a principal distributor for several globally recognized suppliers and manufacturers. As part of Dron & Dickson and its five branches in the United Kingdom, the group expects to add value to existing clients within the market with a broader range of equipment supply.

According to the announcement, Cable Solutions Worldwide will continue to operate from its 12,500-square-foot (1,161.3 m2) warehouse and yard in Inverurie and under its existing trading name. The deal reinforces and expands the breadth of offering and capability that Dron & Dickson delivers in the country and its key strategic locations of Aberdeen, Stirling, Runcorn, Hull, and Lowestoft.

“We are delighted to announce this key acquisition which will significantly strengthen the offering of our supply and service portfolio,” says Colin Rowley, managing director of Dron & Dickson. “As a team, we identified the opportunity to combine the expertise of the two companies, and we are incredibly positive about the opportunities this partnership will bring.”

“I want to thank the team at Cable Solutions Worldwide, and in particular Colin Fraser, John Rickman, and Graham Ross, who have committed to working with us towards our growth strategy in the longer term,” Rowley adds. “They have every reason to be proud of the business they’ve built over the years.”

Earlier this year, Dron & Dickson expanded its renewable energy team to target this emerging market for the company, along with reinforcing its commitment to the sector by becoming Fit 4 Offshore Renewables (F4OR) accredited.

“After many years, we are delighted that our team will join a company that shares our values and to support further growth from the foundations I and the team have worked hard to establish,” says Colin Fraser, managing director of Cable Solutions Worldwide. “We are confident this move represents a perfect outcome for both companies, and to use a footballing analogy, I’ve taken the team as far as I can. It’s time for Dron & Dickson to move our business forward to unlock further potential.”
