Cortec Corporation (St. Paul, Minnesota, USA) announced the promotion of Caleb Pheneger, formerly its director of manufacturing, to the position of chief operations officer (COO). In his new role as COO, Pheneger will be extending his support for projects and operations to Bionetix, Cortec’s Canadian subsidiary, in addition to his manufacturing oversight of five Cortec plants in the United States.

“Caleb’s excellent overall performance is what motivated me to promote him to the position of COO,” says Boris Miksic, Cortec founder and CEO. “I look forward to seeing him lead us to new levels of growth and continual improvement at Cortec Corporation with his hard work, dedication, and organizational insight. He is one of the most talented chemical engineers I have worked with during my 50 years in the specialty chemical industry manufacturing space, with good understanding of chemical processing, polymer compounding, extrusion, paper-coating technology, and organic synthesis.”

Pheneger has a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering and has successfully risen to many challenges over the past decade at Cortec. In 2012, he started working at Cortec Laboratories as a technical services engineer and was soon elevated to the position of production manager at Cortec world headquarters in 2014. For the last five years, he has overseen manufacturing at all Cortec plants in the U.S.

With the addition of Bionetix International, Pheneger’s responsibilities now cover the following production areas:

  • Cortec Corporation world headquarters (St. Paul, Minnesota, USA): anticorrosion coatings, liquid rust preventatives, migrating corrosion inhibitors for concrete, and VpCI (Vapor phase Corrosion Inhibitor) emitting materials
  • Cortec Advanced Films (Cambridge, Minnesota, USA): VpCI films and bags, and compostable films and bags
  • Cortec Coated Products (Eau Claire, Wisconsin, USA): VpCI coated papers and recyclable moisture barrier paper
  • Cortec Spray Technologies (Spooner, Wisconsin, USA): chemical blending and packaging services for aerosol and liquid chemical formulations (contract filling, private labeling, and VpCI brand chemistries)
  • Cortec Biotechnology Campus (Sarasota, Florida, USA): anticorrosion coatings, liquid rust preventatives, and migrating corrosion inhibitors for concrete
  • Bionetix International (Montreal, Quebec, Canada): environmentally friendly biological products for cleaning, waste treatment, environmental remediation, and agricultural productivity
