Ascott Analytical (Tamworth, United Kingdom), a company specializing in the production and sale of corrosion testing equipment, announced that it had been acquired by the Schunk Group (Heuchelheim, Germany), a leading supplier of tailor-made high-tech products made of carbon, technical ceramics, and sintered metal.
The acquisition of Ascott was initiated when Weiss Technik, a subsidiary of Schunk, recognized the strength and growth potential of the company. From there, both Ascott and Schunk agreed that a union between the two would create significant opportunities for both brands around the world.
“There is a natural synergy between Ascott and Weiss Technik and we’re very excited about the future,” says Adrian Wain, managing director of Ascott. “Going forward, with the combined resources and expertise we now have, we will go from strength to strength.”
“Ascott is a very good fit for the Schunk Group,” adds Dr. Arno Roth, CEO for Schunk. “With this purchase, we are significantly expanding the market position of our subsidiary Weiss Technik in the field of corrosion testing.”
“Weiss Technik and Ascott together are number three in the global market for corrosion testing equipment, [so] the two companies complement each other perfectly,” explains Peter R. Manolopoulous, member of the executive board of the Schunk Group and responsible for Weiss Technik.
One specific way in which the two companies complement each other is that each has a defined market presence in different parts of the globe.
“Weiss Technik has a particular presence in Germany and Europe, while Ascott is strong in the UK as well as America and Asia—our strategic growth regions,” says Manolopoulous.
Manufacturing and day-to-day operations for Ascott will continue at the company’s Tamworth location, which totals 30 employees.
