AMPP Relaunches Flagship Coating Inspector Program

The flagship coating inspector program from the Association for Materials Protection and Performance (AMPP) is being relaunched! The new AMPP Coating Inspector Program (CIP) will retain the best parts of the NACE CIP and SSPC Protective Coatings Inspector (PCI) programs. As NACE CIP and SSPC PCI programs continue to be specified around the globe, those credentials will remain active until the industry has fully adopted the AMPP credentials.

The new certification includes new digital credentials the program’s new levels are:

  • Basic Coatings Inspector (Level 1)
  • Certified Coatings Inspector (Level 2)
  • Senior Certified Coatings Inspector (Level 3)

Additionally, AMPP has redesigned the CIP Level 1 course to bring together the best components of the NACE CIP and SSPC PCI programs. The new course, led by a team of experienced instructors, incorporates nine hands-on labs, six days of instruction, new state-of-the-art equipment, and an updated student workbook.

For more than 30 years, NACE and SSPC coating inspection certifications have set the global standard for inspectors in the protective coatings industry. Organizations recognize and specify the NACE CIP and SSPC PCI programs due to their comprehensive, hands-on practical testing methods, which validate an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience while elevating the skills of those in the industry.

The new AMPP Coatings Inspector certifications are equivalent to these existing credentials and will eventually replace them as the specified standard for coatings inspection in the industry.
