The International Institute of Building Enclosure Consultants (IIBEC) (Raleigh, North Carolina, USA) is set to host its first-ever virtual trade show from June 12-14, 2020.

According to IIBEC, event organizers decided to pivot to its unprecedented virtual meeting—also known as the IIBEC 2020 Virtual International Convention and Trade Show—in response to the postponement of their regularly scheduled convention due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The institute says that the convention’s 24 educational sessions will proceed as previously planned, along with an opening session and a virtual trade show. Individuals scheduled to attend the convention in March will be automatically registered for the live virtual event.

Attendees will have access to the virtual education and trade show until July 15, thereby providing them with extended time to attend as many education sessions as they wish. Exhibitors will have the opportunity to connect directly with their customers via live chat. Full registrants will also receive a digital proceedings that includes papers from all educational sessions.

“This is very exciting for us,” says Ted Sheridan, convention chair and IIBEC first vice president. “We are thrilled to be offering this unique opportunity in which to learn about new products and techniques, and for providing a new way of connecting.”

In addition, IBBEC announced that the IIBEC Building Enclosures Symposium+ (BES+) will be held at the Marriot Marquis Houston in Houston, Texas, from November 20-22.

“This pandemic has made IIBEC more resilient and innovative,” says Scott Hinesely, IIBEC president. “The virtual convention and trade show highlight that. And the building envelope consulting community can look forward to interacting face-to-face at the BES+ in the fall.”
