On Saturday, March 14, NACE International’s Board of Directors voted unanimously in favor of the resolution to bring the combination of NACE and
SSPC: The Society for Protective Coatings, including the creation of “NewOrg” (actual name TBD) and “NewOrg Institute” (actual name also TBD), to a member vote.
Following the board’s vote, the next step toward combining the organizations is a member vote by the full memberships of both NACE and SSPC, which will be held online from April 3-17, 2020.
“After extensive discussions and meetings over the past year, the NACE board came to today’s vote with a thorough understanding of how and why combining these two organizations will benefit the corrosion and coatings industries,”
says Terry Greenfield, president of NACE.
“We’ve looked at this from every angle, every industry point of view; today’s unanimous vote is the result of careful and exhaustive consideration to ensure we are doing what is best for the members of NACE International.”
Virtual Meetings for Members
Prior to the vote, NACE will host four virtual town hall meetings to provide members with information about the proposal, solicit feedback, and answer questions. Tim Bieri, vice president of NACE, will present an overview of the combined organization proposal along with Greenfield, NACE CEO Bob Chalker, and the executive director of SSPC.
Other members of the NACE-SSPC Task Group will also be present to answer questions and provide additional perspective.
Participation in online town halls is free and open to all NACE and SSPC members. The Town Hall meetings schedule is below, with each meeting’s link taking users to a registration page. Advance registration is recommended.
Members are welcome to actively engage during these meetings and pose any questions or share any comments they may have.
