AMPP Announces 2024 Student Poster Session Winners

On Wednesday in the Exhibit Hall, a special ceremony was held to recognize the best student posters presented at the 2024 AMPP Annual Conference + Expo. The poster session, sponsored by BP, featured research projects fromundergraduate and graduate students around the world.

After several days of presentations, judges worked hard to select the topposters from several graduate award categories. These include the Marcel Pourbaix Prize for Corrosion Science; the Mars Fontana Prize for Corrosion Engineering; and the Harvey Herro (Herro-Appleman) Prize for Applied Materials Protection Technology.

Additionally, the Best Undergraduate Poster Prize was awarded.

Marcel Pourbaix Prize for Corrosion Science:

Mars Fontana Prize for Corrosion Engineering:

  1. Kasra Shayar Bahadori, Ohio University

  3. Adam Cutright, Ohio University

Harvey Herro (Herro-Appleman) Prize for Applied Materials Protection Technology:

  1. Yoel Emun, The University of Alabama
  2. Tasnia Fatima, The University of Texas at San Antonio
  3. Zichen Ling, The University of Akron

Best Undergraduate Poster Prize:

  1. Diego Ochoa, Cal Poly Pomona
  2. Gary Nunez, Texas A&M University
  3. Bryant Hernandez‍, Cal Poly Pomona

Prize awards are $2,000 for first place, $1,500 for second, and $1,000 for third in graduate categories, while prizes of $1,000 for first place, $500 for second, and $250 for third were awarded for the top undergraduate posters.

Each participating student submitted a 300-400 word abstract (maximum of 2,000 characters), with in-person conference attendance required to participate. There can be only one student per poster.
