SI Group, a leading global performance additives company, recently opened its new regional office in Schenectady, New York, USA. The new office is on the first floor of Building Six at Mohawk Harbor.

As part of the deal, SI Group signed a multi-year lease with The Galesi Group, with a goal of furthering its presence in Schenectady.

According to the company, the new office features state-of-the-art technology and has been designed to promote a collaborative and innovative work environment. With 19,000 square feet (1,765.2 m2) of space, employees can easily connect in person and virtually.

In addition, the presence of Mohawk Harbor provides employees and visitors with a spacious outdoor patio overlooking the river and nearby walking trails, along with neighboring amenities including local restaurants, retail, and other services.

“When we envisioned Mohawk Harbor, it was with the goal of developing a first-class complex on the riverfront where people can live, work, stay, and play,” says David Buicko, CEO of The Galesi Group. “We appreciate SI Group for investing in our community and commend its vision to create a lifestyle work environment for its employees.”

Since SI Group’s inception in 1906, the company has had a prominent presence in Schenectady. Following the sale of its former headquarters building in Niskayuna in 2022, SI Group has retained many corporate employees in the area, along with its manufacturing site in Rotterdam Junction.

“Keeping our regional office in Schenectady was important to us,” says Brooke Manrique Sr., vice president of human resources and communications. “SI Group continues to be committed to the Capital Region and Mohawk Harbor for many reasons, including having the freedom to create the workplace—both indoors and out—that propels our employee-driven culture.”

SI Group describes itself as a global leader in the innovative technology of performance additives, process solutions, active pharmaceutical ingredients, and chemical intermediates. The company offers solutions to improve the quality and performance of industrial and consumer goods within the plastics, rubber and adhesives, fuels and lubricants, oilfield, and pharmaceutical industries.

With approximately 2,000 global employees, the group’s total manufacturing footprint includes 20 facilities on three continents, which allows it to serve customers in 80 countries.
