After extensively cleaning facilities and employing safety precautions recommended by the World Health Organization and U.S. Centers for Disease Control, NACE International has reopened its Houston Training Center at limited capacity effective Sunday, May 31.
Additionally, many of NACE’s face to face classes outside of Houston will be resuming as well. We have requested that each of the facilities we use follow our safety guidelines in conjunction with local and state guidelines,” says Pam Nicoletti, director of education. “Where needed, additional supplies will be sent to ensure all classes have everything required.”
To ensure student and instructor safety, precautionary measures to be taken include limiting class sizes to allow more space in the classroom and arranging rooms to facilitate social distancing.
“Everyone will be required to follow recommended social distancing practices and encouraged to wear a face covering when inside the training facilities,” says Nicoletti, who adds that students can either bring their own mask or take one provided to them.
When more than one class is taking place in a facility, class arrival, lunches, and break times will be staggered to limit exposure. Hand sanitizer stations are available in common areas, and individual hand sanitizers will be provided for each student. Instruments and workstations will be cleaned throughout the day, and classrooms will be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized each evening.
In keeping with previous practices, students who become ill before the start or during a class will be asked to transfer to a future class.
For those unable to attend face-to-face classes, online options are also available.
“Our staff and instructors look forward to welcoming students back to the classroom to obtain a high-quality professional corrosion control education,” Nicoletti concludes.
