Protective Coatings Manufacturer Acquires Two New Product Lines

Protective coatings manufacturer Carboline Co. (St. Louis, Missouri, USA) announced the acquisition of the Strathmore and American Coatings product lines. The American Coatings brand was acquired by Strathmore (Houston, Texas, USA) in 2014.

Strathmore was founded in 1942 and provides coatings solutions to customers in rail, oil and gas, marine, and other industrial markets. Meanwhile, American Coatings has offered interior and exterior coatings to industrial manufacturers, contractors, tank builders, floor coating applicators, and equipment owners for more than 30 years.

According to Carboline, the acquisition of the brands will be a complement to its portfolio of coatings, linings, and fireproofing products while allowing the company to provide its customers with a more diverse range of products and technologies.

Strathmore will remain a standalone brand after the deal is complete. Benefits to its customers will include  an increased number of distribution points, a large direct sales team, global manufacturing capabilities, and access to new research and development facilities.

“We are thrilled to add these well-respected brands to our portfolio,” says Chris Tiernay, president of Carboline. “It is a great strategic fit, and we look forward to leveraging the synergies between our brands to better serve our customers’ needs.”
