Elcometer Releases New Thickness Gauge for Coatings on Concrete

Photo courtesy of ElcometerThe new Elcometer 500 Coating Thickness Gauge from Elcometer (Manchester, United Kingdom) is aiming to make the non-destructive measurement of dry film thickness (DFT) on concrete faster, easier, and more accurate than ever before.

The new product accurately measures DFT on concrete and other cementitious substrates of up to 10 mm, according to the company. Users simply select the coating material and start measuring, with no need to set up gates, range values, or know the thickness of the coating.

The company notes that the gauge includes a robust and ergonomic design, a menu-driven color display, user selectable statistics, memory, and the ability to transfer data to computers or mobile devices through either USB or Bluetooth to generate instant reports.

The coatings on concrete gauge runs three times faster than many other technologies, the company says, with more than 60 readings per minute in standard mode and over 140 readings per minute in scan mode. Designed for continuous use, the gauge also prevents false or incorrect readings by only displaying a reading when the signal strength indicator goes green.

The gauge is seen as ideal for harsh environments, since it includes a dust and waterproof design equivalent to a rating of IP54with field replaceable probe wear tips.

The product can be used in accordance with ASTM 06132, SSPC PA9, and ISO 2808 standards. For more information, visit Elcometer’s Web site.
