Sherwin-Williams President, Chief Operating Officer Resigns

Global coatings manufacturer The Sherwin-Williams Company (Cleveland, Ohio, USA) announced that David B. Sewell, president and chief operating officer, would resign at the close of business on March 12, 2021, to become CEO of another company outside of the coatings industry.

Sewell's chief operating officer role will not be filled immediately.

“We thank David for his many contributions over his 14 years with the company, and we wish him much success in his future endeavors,” said John G. Morikis, chairman and CEO of the company. “Our deep and experienced global team continues to move forward with great momentum, focused on delivering solutions to our customers and executing on initiatives that will drive sustained long-term success.”

Morikis will now serve as president in addition to his current roles, allowing him to assume Sewell’s primary duties and responsibilities.

Founded in 1866, Sherwin-Williams is a global leader in the manufacturing, development, distribution, and sale of paints, protective coatings, and related products to customers in the professional, industrial, commercial, and retail sectors.
