Online voting began Monday, Oct. 5, for the 2020 Tank of the Year contest sponsored by Tnemec Company, Inc. (Kansas City, Missouri, USA), a leading provider of high-performance protective coatings. The public can vote for their favorite water tank atwww.tankoftheyear.com, where photos of this year’s nominated water tanks are posted.

“This year’s contest looks to be another interesting one,” says Scott Keilbey, director of sales for the water tank market. “We have nearly 300 water tank nominations of all varieties this year, from all over the United States and Canada.”

Only one vote is allowed per person, but voters will be able to view the frontrunners at any time when visiting the site or tracking and sharing contest results on social media using the #tankoftheyear hashtag. Voting will be open until on Oct. 16 at 5 p.m. Central. After online voting ends, the water tank receiving the most online votes will be named the “People’s Choice” and receive an automatic bid as a finalist for the Tank of the Year title.

The People’s Choice winner and 11 finalists selected by a committee will be announced on Oct. 19, with the 2020 Tank of the Year announced on Oct. 23. All finalists and nominees will appear in Tnemec’s 2021 water tank calendar, beginning with the Tank of the Year winner in January.

Last year’s People’s Choice tank in Wamego, Kansas, USA, went on to also be crowned the official 2019 Tank of the Year. This tank’s Wizard of Oz-inspired design, which was completed using Tnemec’s high-performance fluoropolymer finish Series 700 HydroFlon, captured the hearts of tank enthusiasts all across North America.

“Every year, the water tank nominees continue to get more and more innovative,” Keilbey says. “Based on the tanks submitted this year, we feel this trend will continue. And we can’t wait to see what tank people choose as their favorite.”
