NACE Announces Cancellation of 2020 Corrosion Technology Week

NACE International regretfully announced that the 2020 Corrosion Technology Week (CTW) will not be able to take place this September. Houston is currently experiencing a Level 1 COVID-19 threat, which means there is severe and uncontrolled community transmission risk.

Based on recent reports, it is unlikely the Houston area will move beyond even a Level 2 by the time of the previously scheduled event.

“Out of concern for the health and safety of our members, staff, and industry community, we cannot move forward with hosting hundreds of people for an in-person event,” says Edward Manns, director of standards and strategic technical initiatives at NACE. “However, we remain committed to finding other ways to develop standards, including transitioning meetings to virtual format.”

Staff liaisons are expected to reach out to many expected attendees with further details. For more information about the cancellation of hotels or registration, please see these FAQs.

“Thank you all for your patience, understanding, and support,” Manns concludes in a letter to attendees. “Please stay safe and well.”
