American Innovations, Ltd. (AI) (Austin, Texas, USA) has acquired the assets of CartoPac International, Inc. (Fort Collins, Colorado, USA), a leading provider of mobile enterprise data solutions used in gas, electric, and water utilities; oil and gas pipelines; and in many other industries. CartoPac has hundreds of deployments worldwide, with thousands of users collecting data on the company’s platform.

With numerous U.S. offices in addition to its Austin headquarters, AI describes itself as an industry leader in remote monitoring, cathodic protection (CP), and field asset and data management. For more than 30 years, the company has created fully integrated hardware and software products to capture and manage data.

“We are excited to add the CartoPac team and suite of enterprise mobile solutions to the AI suite of products and services,” says Ed Kruft, president and CEO. “CartoPac brings a talented, engaged team of professionals intent on solving customer challenges. Together, we will empower pipeline operators and utilities to collect the traceable, verifiable, and complete data needed to safely operate their systems.”

CartoPac was incorporated more than 20 years ago to address the need for mobile field data collection software in the oil and gas pipeline industries. Since then, they have expanded their offerings to serve the needs of other markets including gas distribution, electric utilities, and municipalities.

“CartoPac is ready to continue its growth trajectory towards becoming the leading provider of enterprise-level asset management and analysis software for the energy sector worldwide,” says Scott Crouch, founder and CEO. “American Innovations has extensive industry expertise that will enable CartoPac to take product development to the next level with a focus on enhanced user experience, while still exceeding our customers’ expectations at providing configurable and scalable solutions that adapt to their unique needs.”

AI says it plans to continue to grow its teams, capabilities, and solutions to provide products and services that protect people, the environment, and the world’s infrastructure. As such, the integration of products and services from the two companies is designed to create a full suite of flexible, robust, and reliable solutions for field data collection, management, and analysis.

Ideal applications for CartoPac software include leak surveys, foreign line crossings, structure mapping, as-builts, pipeline inspections, and more. The software can also directly integrate with work management solutions, geographic information systems (GIS), and other enterprise systems. The system can be deployed on-premise, in the cloud, or as a hybrid of both.
