Advanced surface coating technology company Hardide Coatings (Oxfordshire, United Kingdom) appointed Mark Hanania as a business development engineer based in Houston, Texas, USA. The appointment is aimed at driving growth in the group’s oil, gas, and energy sectors throughout North America.

According to the company, strong demand growth from oil and gas customers in North America and its recent entry into the aerospace market is underpinning significant investment in coating technology and quality accreditation at the company’s U.S. coating facility in Martinsville, Virginia, USA.

At that facility, a third coating reactor is slated to be installed by fall 2018 to accommodate increased demand from oil and gas operating and service companies.

Hanania joins the group from a prior role at 3M Canada (London, Ontario, Canada), where he was responsible for driving the company’s innovation into the Alberta and British Columbia oil and gas markets. He brings 20 years of engineering and business development experience, having previously spent more than 13 years with Hilti Canada (Mississauga, Ontario, Canada) in a variety of engineering roles.

“We are seeing a strong rise in demand from oil and gas customers in North America, and Mark’s appointment will enable Dan Wilson to concentrate on other high-tech markets including aerospace, where we believe there are significant opportunities throughout the region,” says CEO Philip Kirkham. “We are expanding our U.S. capacity with investment in people, equipment, and technology supported by the highest aerospace quality standards.”

Wilson is the company’s vice president of business development in North America.

Customers for the group’s coatings include companies operating in oil and gas exploration and production, valve and pump manufacturing, precision engineering, and aerospace industries.
