Arkema Starts New Fluoropolymer Unit at U.S. Plant

Advanced materials producer Arkema (Colombes, France) added Kynar polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) capacity at its plant in Calvert City, Kentucky, USA.

This 20% increase in its U.S. production capacity will further support strong demand from its customers in the region. Through this investment and the successful launch of a similar expansion in 2017 at its plant in Changshu, China, the group says it is further consolidating its global position in PVDF.

The company now operates fluoropolymer production facilities in Europe, North America, and Asia, adding that it sees advanced materials as one of the key pillars of its future growth.

This new capacity, which was brought online ahead of schedule, enables the company to support its customers in emerging applications such as water filtration, traditional markets such as the chemical processing industry, and high-performance cables for consumers in the automotive, fiber optics, and oil sectors.
