Steel Fabrication Association Presents 2018 Hall of Fame Awards

Charles “Charlie” A. Frey Jr., vice president of Highland Tank and Manufacturing (Stoystown, Pennsylvania, USA), and Rich Horn, regional sales manager for Chicago Bridge & Iron Co. (CB&I) (The Woodlands, Texas, USA), were each presented with the Hall of Fame Award from the Steel Tank Institute/Steel Plate Fabricators Association (STI/SPFA) (Lake Zurich, Illinois, USA).

The STI/SPFA’s Hall of Fame Award honors individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the organization. The awards were presented during the group’s 2018 Annual Meeting in Chandler, Arizona, USA.

Sonny Underwood, current chairman of the STI/SPFA board, presented the award to Frey. Frey has served on the Steel Tank Institute board in various roles including vice president, president, and chairman.

Frey has also received the President’s Award, President’s Distinguished Award, and the Service Award, while previously having held the role of association president. He remains an active association member who regularly contributes to committees and the industry.

Meanwhile, STI/SPFA board member Chip Stein presented Horn with his award. According to the association, Horn has been an active speaker at steel water tank seminars and has presented to nearly 3,000 attendees since 1994. He has been instrumental in developing tools, advertising, and other materials promoting the industry and the association.

Horn served on the STI/SPFA Board of Directors and as chairman of the group’s field-erected tank section, and he has received both the Distinguished Service and Appreciation Award from STI/SPFA.
